A mechanical seal is one of the mechanical elements installed to restrict (seal) fluid leakage. Carbon is used as a seal ring in combination with various ceramics and cemented carbides due to its self-lubricating properties. Toyo Tanso can impregnate carbon with resin or metal to improve wear and sealing resistance. We can also supply composite materials of carbon and SiC, specially treated products with higher heat resistance, and coating materials that prevent dust from forming on the carbon surface.
